If English is not your primary language, this course will get you started on conquering weaknesses in English pronunciation that may stand in the way of your success. Learn to hear and use the “melody” and rhythm of language so that it sounds right to native speakers.
This five week course, taught by a licensed speech pathologist, will teach you the melody and rhythm of American English, strengthen your pronunciation and improve your personal and business communication skills. You will:
• Become aware of the rhythm and intonation of your native language and the languages of others in the class
• Recognize and become comfortable with the melody of American English
• Receive a complete, individual evaluation of your American English accent
• Take the next step in pronunciation, working on improved articulation of a vowel sound selected based on needs identified in the individual evaluations
You will find yourself able to correct your pronunciation on your own, with far less effort than traditional accent reduction approaches.
This beginning course uses the Ariber Accent Reduction B.E.A.T.™ program.
Individuals with significantly accented speech may benefit from further individualized instruction, which is not included in this course.
The instructor for this course is Rochel Lieberman, MA CCC-SLP
